Livingroom Redo {before & after}

We’ve been in our house for over a year now. In some ways I still feel like we just moved in. But in others, I feel like we’ve been here forever! A lot has happened in the past 14 months. In fact, so much has happened that I totally neglected our project updates! But not to worry, we haven’t been living with unpainted paneling all year.

I finally took a few after pics to show you how far we have come with our little living room! We love paint. LOVE it. And since we just embarked on an epic cabinet painting project (a la Young House Love), I figured it was high time I posted the things we have actually finished. So here are the before and afters of our living room! I just love it when a plan comes together.

Before (hi cute little Oscar!)

What a difference a little paint can make! We covered every single inch of paneling and painted the wooden doors white. We also used a semi-gloss on the fireplace and while you can’t really tell in the pictures, the gloss over the brick looks so pretty! I was SO happy to ditch the brass hardware on the doors in favor of brushed nickel. Here are some of the nitty gritty details:

We had a lot of fun with this room and even though we try to keep it toy free, we wanted it to be obvious that kids live here. The splashes of green in the pear pillows and red in the kitchen do just that.

So that is our living room redo. What are you working on?

      Thank you! The wall art is a Haitian Steel drum carving. I bought it at a local store but have seen similar pieces in the Heart of Haiti line at Macy’s!

    My mind is kind of blown right now! It’s amazing how much brighter (and cleaner!) everything looks with a little bit of white paint. I particularly like the fireplace. WELL DONE!
