Thanks to Merck Consumer care for sponsoring this conversation about families getting active together!
School is officially out in my neck of the woods which means planning for summer is already in full swing. This week alone we have been to the museum, the airport observation park and to feed the chickens at my parents’ house. My goal this summer is to be outside as much as possible and really let the boys get active, whether it be running at a park or swimming at the local pool. I love the Active Family Project and their focus on getting families to really play together.
We had a great time walking around Disney World during our vacation this month and I love the way my boys sleep after a full and active day! I hope I can keep up with all the fun stuff we have planned because let’s be honest, I’m not young and full of energy like they are! Still, we only have so many summers with our kids and I want to make the most of them. Besides, getting outside gives me the added bonus of unplugging and enjoying my family even more.
Make the Promise!
Merck Consumer Care is challenging families to make a playdate to get active this summer and giving away some great prizes as well! To take the Playdate pledge and enter to win, just head over to the Active Family Project Facebook page and enter the sweepstakes ! I love this quote from Amy McCready, Founder, Positive Parenting Solutions and Member of Active Family Project Play Council:
Playing WITH your kids doesn’t have to be elaborate or take a lot of time. It can be as simple as throwing a ball or role-playing with dolls or action figures. Playing is whatever your CHILD likes to do for fun.
I hope to do a lot of playing right alongside my boys this summer so I am taking the pledge! I know we will all have a great time.
What are some ways you plan to get active this summer?
