Is it Spring yet? I am in North Carolina and while we have had an extremely mild winter, it’s been cold enough to keep me inside much of the time. I just don’t do well in the cold. I grew up in Florida and while I welcome the change of the seasons, I have never much cared for winter. So here we are in the home stretch. Just a few more weeks until the sun really starts to shine and we can get on with our lives and back into our flip flops. In the meantime, I have been looking for ways to stay warm and a little bit stylish while caring for my sweet boys.
While I admit to living in my yoga pants and the occasional pair of jeans, I do at least try a little with my face and hair. I have a fast beauty routine and it serves me well. Even better is that it’s budget friendly 🙂 I have a few wallet friendly items that get the call on an almost daily basis.
My ideal face is fresh and a little bit dewy. I have dry skin so I am always worried that I look like a freshly floured pie crust. To avoid this I use Olay Regenerist Micro Sculpting cream. It’s probably the most expensive thing I have in my bathroom and it is so worth it. My trick is to dab a little on my face after my makeup is on to get that soft fresh-faced look.
I do wear a bit of foundation also with Olay. It’s the Cover Girl-Olay simply ageless foundation (you know the one that Ellen promotes!) and I love it. Seriously. I must be on an Olay high because this stuff is great. Try it. It’s less than $10.
Ok so now my face is on. At this point I just do a quick blush and sweep some eye shadow on. Right now my favorites are Rimmel Glam Eyes neutrals and I finish my eyes with clear gloss to tame my eyebrows. Swipe on some Cover Girl Mascara and I am done. Some days I wear a little Burt’s Bees tinted lip gloss but most of the time I just use chap-stick on my lips. Especially when it’s winter! And that’s it. I am honestly done in five minutes.
So much of the time when it’s cold out, we are all bundled up anyway, I find that keeping a fresh face goes a long way in looking polished. Not that I look polished most of the time, but this is the beauty of blogging. My one day a week of looking snappy goes a long way in photographs 🙂 All told, my makeup bill is under $100 which is a major savings over my previous department store habits. And you know what? I am honestly satisfied.
