Jerry and I have really been enjoying the process of selecting artwork for the house together. Last year we bought a few things locally and when we went on our honeymoon, we knew we would choose artwork as our souvenir to enjoy for as long as it hangs on our walls!
One of our favorite pieces came from Artist Mikel Robinson whose work is positively haunting. I only wish I had known about this one before it sold! It’s called Dreams of Flight and what I love about it is that the background is an x-ray of a bird with the lyrics to I’ll Fly Away overlaid. All his work is covered in a thin layer of wax (maybe paraffin?) so the finish is really smooth and beautiful!
I would love to get one of his installations…He had a bunch at the Handmade Market and they were awesome. His suggestion was to place them in an unexpected place, like a corner or behind the door. I have just the door!!!
