We are (finally) getting Oscar dedicated at church this Sunday! I say finally because most people who dedicate their children do so as newborns, or young infants. Generally speaking, toddlers who will likely do nothing but scream DRUM, DRUM! the whole time we are on stage have long since been prayed over. But we’re talking about my family here. We do things our own way, in our own timing. And that usually means, we’re late.
So yeah, my baby boy is getting dedicated on Sunday and I am so excited! And if you are unsure of what that really means, basically it’s a symbol for US as parents, to say we are committed to our faith and raising Oscar the best way we can according to Biblical principals. And lest you think we are raising a drone over here, I assure you that Oscar will get to make his own choices about his own faith as he grows. I just love the idea of committing as Mom and Dad to a unified front on parenting. And the more he grows, and we learn about what works and what doesn’t work, I think it’s important to stand together and remind ourselves that we are not alone in this. It’s a beautiful thing.
