I love the South. I grew up in Florida which to me, does not count as the South. I was born and raised in a beach town full of Drifters and Northern Transplants and Retirees and Spring Breakers. It was a good time. In fact, I really can’t imagine living there as an adult. I mean how do you go to work when there is fun in the sun? As a teen I had jobs and such, but they usually involved Italian Ice or tanning after my shift ended.
Anyway, now that I have lived in North Carolina for 12 years, I have decidedly become more “Southern”. I say things like ya’ll and fixin to. And I’m not joking when I say it. I’m genuinely conveying my thoughts and it’s usually not until a few minutes later that I realize I have drawn from my inner Dixie Carter to declare that I will NOT be MOCKED! Designing Women style.
I love the South. Whatever that means. I know that I love Raleigh. And I love the people. On Sunday, we are going back to my home town to visit dear friends and family. We’ll play and splash and enjoy the sunshine. And while I am gone ya’ll, there are gonna be some killer guest posters holdin down the fort.
Now I’m fixin to pack so we can get on.
