Sometimes I write about Faith on my blog. I do this not to be preachy, but because it is part of who I am. Sometimes my thoughts take me to conferences, while other times they take me to church. And I don’t know about you, but I need some church. You might remember that back in June I was asked to guest post on a local blog called Go Ask Mom, which is a page on the larger website for our local news affiliate. I loved writing about Faith and Motherhood and really enjoyed meeting some new people as a result of the post.
It occured to me that while I don’t like to push my faith on people, to refrain from referring to it would be like not talking about Jerry or Oscar or my parents. I mean this is part of me right? And then this week one of our Pastors said something that literally flipped the switch in my brain;
“As Christians, it is NOT our job to convince people to follow Jesus. We are just re-tweeters of news”
What a fantastically simple point! I just love it. Our faith is what it is. I am always willing to have a conversation but I hesitate bringing it up because I don’t want to seem preachy or pushy. With the idea that I am who I am and people have the freedom to take it or leave it, I feel much more relaxed about being myself.
And this is just perfect timing because I have been asked to write once a month by the people over at Go Ask Mom about Faith! I hope you will join me in the discussion. I love hearing different perspectives and learning from you!
