Raleigh Capitol Tree Lighting 2012

Last week we threw caution to the wind for the second night in a row and decided to blow off bedtime. We took the boys downtown and armed with decaf and chocolate chip cookies, made our way to the Capitol Building for the annual Christmas Tree lighting. We had a great time and I plan to make this a family tradition!

Just a couple-a boys in Downtown Raleigh

Waiting for the ceremony to begin – looking on to Fayetteville St.

Governor Bev Perdue hung a wreath on the Capitol doors and performed the countdown to the tree lighting

Here we go!

5….4….3….2….

Merry Christmas Raleigh!!

Hangin out on the steps

Did someone say dinner?

One more peek….

Let’s eat!

(a note about Capital Club 16 – while not a restaurant I would typically bring kids, they did an amazing job accommodating us and treating us like every other cool hipster in the place. And no, we are not at all hipsters. That’s just how awesome these guys are. Plus, the food is fantastic!)

Calvin devoured the grilled cheese and rosemary fries. Oscar loved his grilled chicken and apples (peeled!)

And a bonus pretty tree!

What are your favorite local holiday traditions?
