This week I have been thinking of New York a bit more often. I think this is probably because the main “plan” I had for living in NYC was going to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade. So since Thanksgiving is this week, I have been somewhat thoughtful about what “might have been”. However, overall, I am so glad I stayed here. It’s weird how plans change so quickly. There is so much I love about Raleigh. Of course, my friends, family and church are the obvious reasons that I love it. But, there are silly little things that just make me smile on a regular basis. One example of this is a little thing I like to call the ‘crackhead brian sightings’. A few years ago, I was a waitress at Darryls and there was a waiter there named Brian. Brian is a cool guy with a quirky sense of humor. We always had fun working together. But on the off chance that you saw Brian outside of the restaurant, he was decidedly different and apparantly cracked out. If you ever see Ben Moser, ask him about crazy ketchup man. It has become somewhat of a hobby to have a ‘sighting’ as Brian can often be seen walking on or around Hillsborough St. I had forgotten all about the sightings since I graduated in May, but tonight on my way home from getting dinner, I saw him. And I laughed. All by myself in the car, I said, this is why I love Raleigh. Oh crackhead Brian…if you only knew.
