relax & enjoy summer

I’m tired.

When we took the boys to Florida at the end of April, we did so knowing it would be our big family vacation for the year. I had already planned to attend 2 conferences this summer so we decided to jump at the chance to play at Disney World and I am so glad we did. It was the perfect way to welcome summer.

What I did not know was that we would be going pretty much non-stop once we got home! Between more work on the blog, the Type-A-Parent conference for me, two trips to Alabama and one to Ohio for Jerry and the unexpected replacing of his vehicle after he was rear-ended, we have been super busy! Add to that the fact that both Calvin and I have birthdays this month and Jerry has to take a work trip and we are done with July. And then in August, I am going to Blogher!

I mean seriously. Can school start already so we can catch a break? I thought summer was supposed to be all about mojitos and sleeping in and stuff. What’s all this “business as usual” junk??

Of course I can’t really complain because aside from the car accident (where no one was hurt, thankfully) most of this busy-ness is awesome. But even awesome makes me tired sometimes.

So this week I am going to try my best to relax and enjoy summer. I have planned ahead and I am taking the reigns on these wild horses. I am hereby giving myself (and anyone else who needs it) permission to play.

To take naps and go to bed early.

To make meals that qualify as food while at the same time cooking as little as possible.

To catch up on So You Think You Can Dance.

Who knows? I might even read a book….

Breathe in. Breath out.

Summer used to be easy when I wasn't in charge of everything! I need to relax and just let it flow.

Love that cat photo. Too bad about the car.

I partially tore the bumper off my car today after having lunch at Roly Poly. I'm disgusted. It must have snagged on something, and I was too over the curb.
