Oscar’s last day of Preschool was May 22, which means we have been celebrating “Summer” for almost 6 weeks already. I can’t believe some schools around the country are just letting out! It’s seriously blowing my mind. At any rate, in the past month we have made some great memories.
Oscar has a week of camp under his belt and we spent some days at our local museums and parks and also with friends. We have also been trying to get outside and play as much as we can. Oh yeah and I am turning 35. Needless to say, it’s going to be a great summer! My motto is Don’t just make it, make the most of it!
This week, because of the 4th of July holiday, my husband has a couple days off work and I am already planning our fun! One day we’re going to see a morning kids’ movie and we will definitely be spending the better part of a day at our local pool ending with a picnic lunch. For the 4th, I have some sparklers and I am going to let the boys make their own ice cream sundaes! We pretty much live for ice cream around here so I am personally looking forward to that one. We’ll also get to a few home projects that have been neglected and hopefully really make the most of our long weekend.
The thing about summer is that there are endless possibilities for fun things to do with the family. Because we had our big family vacation in May, I was starting to get a little bummed about not traveling much. I knew once the beach pictures started showing up online it would really twist the knife. Of course it would be great to bury my feet in the sand. But at the same time, I really feel like we are doing a great job at enjoying the days we have and exploring our great city.
The other thing I am personally trying to do is enjoy all the moments that make up our days. Some days are fancy where we go places and explore. Other days we stay in and enjoy the quiet of our home. I’m trying to allow myself to really be present in these moments and to relax. I am cooking more and getting down on the floor to play. It’s simple, but so good.
So now that summer is officially here, are you making it or making the most of it?
