Yesterday right at about nap:30, a huge thunderstorm blew through town. And when I say blew through town, I mean it went as fast as it came. But not before wreaking havoc on our day. Krusty is terrified of storms so when I realized he had both paws on my lap I knew he needed attention so we went and sat on the couch together while I ate my lunch.
It was right about this time that the power went out. Since Oscar sleeps with a fan on in his room, he is usually immune to most outside noises. But now, there was no fan. Only thunder and he woke right up. Thankfully, he wasn’t scared, but awake and ready to play! I couldn’t really expect him to go back to sleep with all the crazy fire and brimstone outside so I brought him to the living room with us and put him in his swing (aha! batteries!) We hung out there for a while and it became clear that the electricity would not be returning any time soon. All was not lost, however.
Oscar was becoming distracted by our presence on the couch so Krusty and I moved to the guest room where we proceeded to take an afternoon nap of our own. Oscar fell back asleep in the swing and we all rested in a very quiet house for over an hour. Thankfully, the power came back on in time to make our Pizza so I can remain optimistic about the experience. I guarantee I wouldn’t have taken that nap otherwise and it felt great! So thanks, Progress Energy for fixing our power, but also for taking your time.
