Separate the portions of biscuit dough and cut them into quarters.
Roll the quartered portions of dough into balls between your palms, taking care not to smash them. Set the dough balls aside on parchment or foil.
Heat the vegetable oil in a pot over medium to medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F. Use a candy thermometer or frying thermometer to verify the temperature.
Carefully lower a few dough balls into the oil to fry.
Cook for 1-2 minutes or until the underside of the donut holes are golden brown and they start to naturally turn over.
Use a fork or pair of tongs to carefully help flip the donut holes over, and repeat cooking for 1-2 minutes on the opposite side, until the dough is completely golden brown all over.
Use a slotted spoon to gently remove the donut holes from the hot oil and place them on a paper towel lined plate.
Repeat frying 4-8 donut holes at a time until finished.
After the donut holes are all fried, melt the butter in a heat-safe bowl in the microwave.
In a separate bowl, combine the sugar and cinnamon.
Dip each donut hole into the butter, then into the cinnamon sugar mixture, making sure to coat on all sides.
Serve with chocolate sauce for dipping if desired. and enjoy.
Notes
You can use any variety of store bought canned biscuit dough. If needed, you can substitute another neutral cooking oil for the vegetable oil. Use something neutral with a light flavor and a high smoke point such as canola oil or avocado oil. If you must use olive oil, try to use a light-tasting variety. These donut holes cook very quickly and can burn easily. Be sure to watch them the entire time. These donut holes are best when freshly cooked and served warm, or consumed the same day.Store leftovers in a tightly covered airtight container for 1-2 days if needed. After that time, they will start to taste stale.
