Procrastinator’s Guide to Finally Doing Taxes

Before I was married, doing taxes wasn’t complicated. I used to be one of those people who did taxes in January. They weren’t too complicated, I always got a refund and I wanted my money honey!

In the past few years however, life and finances got a bit more overwhelming. Last year, we had to pay up and it hurt. So this year, swearing that we wouldn’t wait until the last minute to file, we waited until the last minute to file.

Can you related? If so, put those tax forms away and laugh (or cry) a little with me.

I’ve compiled a simple 11-step guide to finally getting them done.

And a bonus step #12: Write blog post instead of doing taxes.

In short, never take advice from a procrastinator.

Procrastinator's Guide to finally doing taxes. A humorous look at why tax season is one of the worst times to be an adult ever.

Like and share this post if someone YOU know is procrastinating doing taxes.

Doing taxes is just one of those things adults have to do. Do I like it? Nope. Do we still have to do it? Sigh. Yes, I suppose we do. My hope is that one of these years, we will get it together. Maybe?

In the meantime, if you need more ways to procrastinate, might I recommend planning your next vacation to Walt Disney World? It’s one of my favorite hobbies. I can’t be the only one…right?

If you need me, I’ll be doing….something!

  1. I can’t stop laughing because this Sooo resonates with me, it’s almost like you are in my head. Especially #9??

  2. Love this…..I’m sitting here on the 16th, doing my taxes….well, sort of. My one job today was to get up early and get going on taxes. I got out of bed at 10:30. I’ve taken an extra long shower, ate a good breakfast, cleaned my office, played with the cat, gone through old emails, caught up on Facebook, added new lead to my pencils, watched my husband work in the yard on this beautiful day and wished I could be out there with him, walked downstairs to brew another cup of tea, pulled out all my tax forms and sorted them neatly on the table by my desk, fed the cat, read a couple more emails that have come in over the past hour (this one!).
I think I need one more tea refresh and then I am sure I can get my taxes done…unless it is time to get dinner going…
