Individual Easter dirt pudding cups are the perfect way to celebrate the season. These no-bake treats are made with pudding, Oreo cookies, and everyone’s favorite marshmallow Peeps.
Spring has sprung and making simple snacks is what we are all about. This Easter treat is about as simple as it comes. You’ll be enjoying it before you know it.
Growing up I thought dirt pudding was the most creative dessert ever. I remember going to a church function and seeing a pail full of “dirt” with a trowel for serving.
I just love the creativity.
These Easter dirt cups take that idea and add some seasonal fun. Make them in single serve sizes and no one has to share! That’s what I call a fun dessert.

Why I love Easter Bunny Dirt Cups
- No Bake
- Kid-approved
- Creamy texture with a crunch
- Colorful Easter brunch idea
Ingredients Needed
To make this super cute dessert, you just need a few minutes and some simple ingredients.
You can make these year round, but if you want to add the bunnies and chicks on top, you’ll need to grab them in the spring.
What to buy:
- Vanilla instant pudding mix – this is the base of your treat and will be divided between different colors.
- Cold milk – used to make the pudding. I prefer whole milk for richer flavor.
- Cool Whip topping – This is used to thicken the pudding mixture.
- Oreo cookies – without the filling. Yes really! I’m sure you can find something to do with all that cream. I know I would.
- Green sprinkles – sprinkles make delicious grass!
- Peeps marshmallows – Grab a few colors of Peeps bunny and chick varieties
- Mini egg candies – My favorites are Robins Egg Whoppers but Cadbury chocolate eggs also work well.
- Pink and green gel food coloring – this is used to create the colorful layers.
- Clear plastic cups – to serve this easy treat to your friends and family
How to Make Them
Whether you make these to share or want a fun activity to get kids in the kitchen, you will love how easy this recipe is.
Make the Pudding Mixture
Get started by adding the pudding mix to a large bowl. Whisk it with 3 cups milk, until the mixture begins to thicken.
Then, gently fold in cool whip, stirring until well combined and set aside.
Then take the prepared vanilla pudding mixture and divide it. You’ll want one-third of the mix in one bowl, and the remaining two-thirds in another.
To the smaller bowl of pudding, add 4-5 drops of purple gel food coloring and mix well. Feel free add more if needed to reach your desired shade of purple.
With your remaining bowl of pudding, add 4-5 drops of pink gel food coloring and mix until the pudding is pink.
Prepare the Cookie Layer
Use your food processor to crush the cookies into a fine crumb. You may need to do this in batches. Or, you could add them to a large zipper bag and crush them with a rolling pin.
Divide the Oreo crumbs into 3 separate bowls. Since we are creating three layers in our cups, this will ensure you don’t run out.
Assemble the Dirt Cups
Take one bowl of crushed cookies and divide the crumbs evenly among the plastic cups to create the bottom layer.
Divide the purple pudding evenly among your individual cups on top of the cookie layer.
Then, with the second bowl of crushed Oreos and divide evenly among the 6 cups, making the 2nd layer of dirt crumbs on top of the purple pudding mixture.
Add the pink pudding mixture among your cups, leaving just a small amount of space at the top for a final cookie crumb layer.
Finally, top each of the easter pudding cups with another layer of chocolate cookie crumbs.
Sprinkle each cup with green sprinkles, an Easter Peeps marshmallow, and 2-3 mini egg candies.
Serve and enjoy!
Variations
This no bake dessert is so much fun to make and delicious to eat. And I love that you can really change it up based on your preferences. Here are a few ideas if you want a little variety.
- Use jelly beans instead of chocolate mini eggs
- Try edible grass if you don’t want to use sprinkles
- Make chocolate pudding cups instead of vanilla. You won’t have the same colors throughout but they will be delicious!
- Mix in some small Easter candy or gummy worms with the Oreo layers
Storage Tips
If you have any leftovers, take each cup of pudding and cover it with a layer of plastic wrap to store. Refrigerate and enjoy within 1-3 days.
