All you need are a few fresh ingredients from your garden or the grocery store to make this chunky salsa with great result.

Jalapeno Pineapple Salsa Ingredients

What to Buy:

  • 1 ½ cup fresh pineapple, diced from a whole pineapple (reserve outside for serving bowl)
  • 1 tbsp jalapeno, diced
  • 1 cup roma tomatoes, diced
  • ¼ cup green bell pepper, diced
  • ¼ cup yellow pepper, diced
  • ¼ cup orange or red bell pepper, diced
  • ¼ cup red onion, diced
  • ⅓ cup cilantro, finely chopped
  • 4 tbsp fresh lime juice
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • ⅛ tsp salt or more to taste

Substitutions

The above ingredients will create a colorful and delicious salsa. They can be swapped for other fruits or vegetables however.

Feel free to add more hot peppers for a more spicy flavor or swap some of the colorful bell peppers for mango to make a sweeter fruit salsa.

How to make a Pineapple Bowl

To prepare the pineapple bowl, lay the pineapple on its side and carefully cut it in half using a large knife.

This will create two equal sized bowls.

If you would rather have one deeper bowl, cut about ⅓ of the pineapple off, leaving the entire stem attached and you will have one large bowl.

Then, using a smaller knife, make a cut around the outer edge of the pineapple and then slice across the middle and from top to bottom.

Use a spoon to remove pineapple chunks.

The core, which will be the harder section to cut in the center of the pineapple, can be discarded once it is removed.

Making Jalapeño Pineapple Salsa

After you wash your vegetables, it’s time to chop. First, carefully dice peppers and onions.

In a medium bowl, add the peppers and onions to the pineapple chunks and mix until well combined.

Repeat with tomatoes and cilantro and stir to incorporate.

Dice your jalapeño pepper and add with the lime juice. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Scoop the pineapple filling into each pineapple bowl before serving and enjoy!

This easy pineapple salsa recipe can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days.

However, if you plan to use the outer layer of pineapple as a bowl, you will want to do the day you make it or the next. The pineapple bowl itself will begin to lose freshness overnight.

Make this sweet and spicy salsa a mix of fresh vegetables, sweet pineapple and spicy jalapeño peppers. Use it on everything from tortilla chips to fish tacos.

Ingredients 

  • 1 ½ cup pineapple, diced from whole pineapple, see notes
  • 1 cup roma tomatoes, diced
  • ¼ cup green bell pepper, diced
  • ¼ cup yellow pepper, diced
  • ¼ cup orange pepper, diced
  • ¼ cup red onion, diced
  • cup cilantro, finely chopped
  • 4 tbsp lime juice, fresh
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • tsp salt or more to taste
  • 1 tbsp jalapeno, diced

Instructions 

  • To prepare the pineapple bowl, lay the pineapple on its side and carefully cut it in half using a large knife. This will create two bowls.
  • Then using a smaller knife, make a cut around the interior edge of the pineapple and slice across the middle and from top to bottom.
  • Use a metal spoon to scoop out the pineapple chunks. Discard the core.
  • Add the pineapple chunks to a medium bowl (for mixing purposes).
  • Next, chop the vegetables and add to the bowl. Mix until well combined.
  • Mix in lime juice and jalapeno. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Scoop the pineapple filling into each pineapple bowl. Serve with tortilla chips or as a topping. Enjoy!

If using the pineapple exterior as a bowl, it needs to be used within one day or it will begin to deteriorate.
