Tieks are worth it for those shopping for a quality ballet flat with a mid-range budget. Am I that person? Let’s find out.

I’d heard about Tieks for years, but never took the plunge and tried them. So when I was recently offered a pair to review, I knew it was finally time to see what the buzz is about.

Are Tieks Ballet Flats Worth It?

I’ve been wearing my Tieks flats for about a month now, and here is what I’ve learned.

Best for: Travelers, office wear, casual weekend outings
Price: Adult sizes start at $220
Comfort out of the box: Ready to wear

What Are Tieks?

Tieks ballet flats are popular for a reason. They are well-made with Italian leather in many colors, leather insoles, and great packaging. They also have a split sole, which makes them foldable and easy to pack or throw in your bag for relief from high heels on a night out.

I chose the Metallic Bronze Tieks, and I think it is the perfect fall neutral.

How Do Tieks Fit?

Do Tieks run true to size? I have a slightly narrow foot and high arches and am often in between a half and full size. I decided to go with the full size and I’m glad I did. The shoes fit great. In my opinion, if you are between sizes, I would go with the larger one.

The flats hug my foot and are comfortable without having too much give or falling off my feet. They do not have arch support, so if that is important to you, an insert that isn’t too thick in the heel should help.

I tried adding my hard inserts, and they pushed the heel down a little too much for my liking. If I decide I need extra support, I’ll use an insert that only goes under the arch and not the heel.

Are Tieks Comfortable?

Are Tieks comfortable right out of the box, or do they need breaking in? My flats felt great right out of the box. They had just enough stretch without being too much, and the leather insole felt soft on my feet.

How long does it take to break in Tieks? The only break-in issue I experienced was a slight squeaking sound while walking when my feet would start to warm up. I added a little foot powder into each shoe, and the issue was resolved completely.

Are Tieks Good for Travel?

Tieks are foldable and easy to pack. I love having a few shoe options while traveling and since I try to travel carry-on only most of the time, I appreciate the small “footprint” of these flats. (See what I did there?)

Are Tieks good for walking all day? If you want to walk all day in your Tieks, it will depend on your personal comfort level. For me, Tieks are best for a few hours at a time; dinner out, a morning in a coffee shop, or a late-night swap in after wearing high heels to an event. Because of my high arches, I wouldn’t try to wear them all day or walk long distances. Your mileage may vary.

Tieks are a great mid-range ballet flat with a lot of versatility. If you want a quality shoe that’s packable for travel, events, or a morning out, give them a try. Tieks is a well-established brand with a loyal fanbase, and I can see why!

I don’t wear flats regularly, but I am happy that I have a pair of Tieks in the rotation for travel and quick coffee runs. I consider Tieks a fun splurge, worth a try if you are in the market.
