Those who have known me for any substantial length of time know I am a huge fan of Will Ferrell. Back in an old 2005 post, I said he was my favorite comedian (still true). I flirted with my now husband using Anchorman quotes, dressed as Mugatu for Halloween and even sent a wedding invitation to his fan-mail address.
Recently, when we got our cats (one of whom has a mustache) it was a no-brainer that they would be named Brick and Ron Purrgundy. They even have their own Instagram account at @StayClassyKitty. My husband considers himself to be the spitting image of Ferrell’s Lord Business in The Lego Movie and well, you get the idea.
Will Ferrell is just a part of our lives. We are quoting his movies all the time without even knowing it.
When my friend Susan told me she was planning to attend the press screening of his newest movie, Daddy’s Home, with the chance to interview Ferrell, I properly gushed like any late-30s suburban mom would. It probably sounded like WILL FERRELLLLLL!!!!! OH MY GAHHHHHH!!!! I KNOW HIM!!!!!
Little did I know, she had a plan up her sleeve.

Yes, that is my photo with the cats in this picture of the one and only Will Ferrell! I died the moment I got the picture and immediately flooded the internet with my glee. Elf quotes were flying, there was definite jumping up and down and I realized, I have no dreams left. I’m out. I’m good.
I mean seriously. I’m not a super-fan of many things, but when it comes to what I really enjoy, I am topped off. It seems silly that something so small could touch me like this, but the fact that I have friends who are willing to go out of their way to make me smile is something I will never take for granted.
Now that we are best friends, Will’s photo and I have enjoyed dinner and a stroll around Walt Disney World. Next week we’ll celebrate Christmas. After that, I don’t know! I thought maybe we could make ginger bread houses, and eat cookie dough, and go ice skating, and maybe even hold hands. Talk about Christmas Cheer!!
For more on Susan’s experience meeting Will Ferrell and her upcoming review of Daddy’s Home, make sure to follow her blog, Mom on the Map. Really, you should do it anyway because she is awesome!
Thank you Susan. Thank you Will. And don’t forget to stay classy!
