Baked French Onion Dip

Creamy baked French onion dip makes a great appetizer or snack when you want to feed a crowd. This recipe uses fresh onion with a mixture of cheeses and seasonings to create the perfect warm dip.

How to Make It

A warm and savory dip makes any party better! To begin, preheat the oven and slice an onion.

Step 1: Add oil to a large skillet and sautee sliced onion.

Step 3: In a large mixing bowl, combine cooked onions with the cream cheese, half the shredded cheese, and soup mix.

Step 3: Scoop onion mixture into a cast iron skillet or baking dish and top with the remaining shredded cheese.

Step 4: Bake until warm and cheese starts to brown. Serve with sliced French bread.

Storage Tip

Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for 3-5 days. Reheat in the oven, air fryer, or microwave.

This French onion dip recipe uses fresh onion with a mixture of cheeses and seasonings to create the perfect warm dip.

Total: 22 minutes
Yield: 8 servings

Ingredients 

  • 1 onion, sliced and sauteed
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 cup Italian blend cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup Gruyere cheese, shredded
  • 8 oz Whipped cream cheese
  • 1 pkg French onion mix, Lipton
  • French bread

Instructions 

  • Pre-heat oven to 400°F.
  • Slice onion and sautee in a large skillet over medium-high heat with olive oil until browned.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine whipped cream cheese, onion mix, cooked onion Gruyère cheese & 1/2 cup Italian blend cheese.
  • Spoon into a cast iron skillet or medium sized baking dish.
  • Cover with the remaining shredded cheese.
  • Bake for 12 minutes or until bubbling and cheese has turned golden brown.

Notes

Refrigerate leftover onion dip in a covered, airtight container. Consume within 3-5 days.
