Cookies and cream Rice Krispie treats are a cross between two classic treats. Made with Oreo cookies, crispy rice cereal, butter and marshmallows, this foolproof recipe is perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients for Cookies and Cream Rice Krispie Treats

Here’s what to buy:

  • ½ cup butter
  • 2 10-ounce packages mini marshmallows
  • 10 cups rice cereal
  • 30 Oreo cookies, crushed

Substitutions

We love making rice marshmallow treats in all the ways! If you want to switch it up, try these Pumpkin Rice Krispy Treats or Red Velvet Rice Krispie treat flavors.

Feel free to use your favorite rice cereal. Store brand is fine!

For even more chocolate, try making these with chocolate cream cookies like chocolate Joe Joe’s from Trader Joe’s and use Cocoa Krispies cereal.

How to make Cookies and Cream Rice Krispies Treats

The method of cooking these treats is similar to classic rice krispie treats. All you need to do is add some delicious Oreo cookies.

To get started, prepare a 13×9 inch pan by lining it with parchment paper. Spray the paper with non-stick spray or butter.

Then, place the chocolate sandwich cookies in a large zipper bag and crush into small pieces. Set aside.

Melt butter over medium heat in a large pot.

When the butter is melted, add the bag of marshmallows and stir until smooth and melted.

Remove from heat and add the Rice Krispies cereal and cookies. Stir until well mixed.

TIP: if you use a buttered spatula it will make the process much easier.

Transfer the mixture to the prepared pan and press mixture until the cereal mixture reaches the edges of the pan.

Place a sheet of wax paper on top to keep the mixture from sticking to your hands.

Allow to cool for at least 2 hours, then slice into squares and enjoy!

Tips and Tricks

Eat your treats right out of the pan or top them with melted chocolate, more cookies and about a cup of mini marshmallows.

Store leftovers in an airtight container or on a plate covered with plastic wrap.

You can decorate this quick delicious treat for various holidays using colorful melting chocolate, icing or sprinkles.

    I made two batches of this over the weekend and it was a big hit. However, one 9×13″ pan was not big enough. It was also incredibly difficult to stir or distribute the marshmallow evenly due to how much this makes. The first batch I crammed into a 9×13″ pan, but it was basically falling over the edges because the pan was so full. It was also difficult to cut. For the 2nd batch, I prepared two pans (9×13″ and a 9×9″) which was a bit better. Honestly, if you want one pan with what I would consider a normal thickness of rice krispie treats, I’d suggest cutting this recipe in half. It would also make it much less unwieldy to stir/pour and the marshmallow would be more evenly distributed. Otherwise, be prepared to put a lot of arm strength into it and have 2 pans ready to go.
