Deliciously crispy on the outside and warm and tender on the inside, these roasted potatoes made in the air fryer are the perfect side dish.

If you have a regular air fryer or the Instant Pot air fryer lid like I do, you can make these tasty taters in no time.

My family loves oven roasted potatoes and when I am making a sheet pan meal, it makes sense to keep it all together.

That said, I have found that making them in the instant pot air fryer is equally delicious and speeds up the cooking process.

Plus, if you live in a warm climate and don’t want to use the oven, this cooking method helps to keep your kitchen cool. These would be delicious with some Instant Pot Salisbury Steak.

Air Fryer Potatoes Recipe Ingredients

You don’t need much to make this easy recipe. It’s all about using your favorite seasoning and getting that golden crispy result.

Here’s what I like to use:

  • Baby red potatoes and/or Yukon gold potatoes (or both)
  • Extra virgin olive oil or avocado oil
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • Garlic powder
  • Italian seasoning or fresh rosemary

Prepare the Potatoes

To make air fryer roasted potatoes, the first thing you need to do is wash and chop potatoes into smaller pieces. They should be quartered at least and larger potatoes will need a little more attention. Basically, you want them large enough to be a substantial bite but small enough to get a nice crispy skin.

Once your potatoes are chopped, go ahead and set the air fryer temperature to 400°F and let it warm up. My pressure cooker has an air fryer lid and it works the same way.

Take your chopped potatoes and add them to a large mixing bowl. Toss together the potatoes, a little extra virgin olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and your favorite seasonings. I tend to use whatever I have on hand but it’s hard to go wrong with garlic and salt!

Cook in Air Fryer

Spread the potatoes in an even layer in the air fryer basket. If you don’t have a large air fryer, you can cook in batches. You want to give the hot air some room to really circulate.

Cook the potatoes for 10 to 12 minutes and give them a good shake about halfway through the cooking time, until they are golden brown.

Serve immediately for best results or cover and set aside if you are making a second batch.

Variations

Crispy air fryer potatoes are an easy side dish recipes you make in different ways. They’re all good if you ask me! Try these variations if you want to switch it up!

Try air frying russet potatoes cut into french fries and serve with dipping sauces.

Use sweet potatoes and lightly drizzle with maple syrup.

Make air fryer potato wedges and mix together equal parts sour cream and ranch dressing for dipping.

To make a baked potato in the air fryer, poke all over with a fork and cover with a little olive oil and salt. Then cook for 30-40 minutes on 400°F.

What to Serve with Air Fryer Potatoes

However you serve them, crispy potatoes are one of the most versatile (and one of my favorite) side dishes.

They are packed with flavor the whole family will love. I especially love them with other roasted or air fried veggies. But they would be awesome with these homemade Big Mac Sloppy Joes.

They are also great with these french onion pork chops or sausage fried cabbage. Talk about flavor!

Store leftovers in an airtight container and refrigerate. Potatoes can be reheated in the air fryer on 350°F for about 3-4 minutes.
