Drink it hot or over ice for a decadent treat.

And if you want to balance out the sweetness of this drink, how about a warm homemade bagel?

I discovered the joy of drinking coffee with whipping cream years ago when I worked as a barista.

Over the years, I’ve become one of those “black coffee people” but that doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy a treat once in a while.

Hazelnut hot cocoa makes the perfect base for this whipped delight.

Ingredients to Make Whipped Hazelnut Mocha

I made our drinks with coffee but I think they would be even better with a little kick of espresso.

I’ll leave that part up to you!

whipped hazelnut iced mocha ingredients

You will need:

  • Coffee
  • Whipping cream
  • Hazelnut hot cocoa powder (I like Stephen’s)
  • Powdered sugar
  • Chocolate (baking or semi-sweet)
  • Ice
  • Espresso (optional)

Make sure you have a hand mixer with a whisk or some other way to blend your whipping cream.

I also have a zesting/grating tool, which I used for the chocolate. A cheese grater would also work if you don’t mind larger shavings.

How to Make a Whipped Hazelnut Mocha

If you plan to make this as a hot drink, brew your coffee and wait until your whipped hazelnut cocoa is ready to go.

If you plan to have it iced, I recommend chilling your coffee or starting with cold brew.

whipping cream and cocoa

Combing your hot chocolate powder, sugar and whipping cream in a bowl and whisk until stiff.

Thinner whipped cream will stir into your drink better, but I couldn’t resist that thick frosting-like consistency you can eat with a spoon.

So good!

We decided to go with iced coffee so I added ice to a tumbler and poured black coffee over it.

Add your whipped hazelnut to the top, sprinkle some chocolate shavings and enjoy!

The whipped cream is so wonderful, you may want to eat it with a spoon or use it as frosting for these yummy breakfast muffins! I won’t judge.
