How to Make it

Below is a visual walk-through of this easy Bisquick sausage balls recipe. Detailed amounts and printable instructions can be found in the recipe card at the end of this post.

First, preheat oven to 350°F and line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.

To a large bowl, add ground sausage, pre-shredded cheese, and biscuit mix.

Using hands or the paddle attachment on an electric mixer, combine all of the ingredients until the sausage mixture is uniform and ready to scoop.

mix until well combined

Then, use a cookie scoop or roll into 1-inch balls.

Place uncooked sausage balls about 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheet.

Bake for 25 minutes, until golden brown.

Note: You’ll want to be sure the sausage is fully cooked, so I recommend using a meat thermometer to measure the internal temperature, which should be 160-165°F.

Enjoy right away, or store in an airtight container for later use.

What to Serve with Cheesy Sausage Balls

This classic Bisquick recipe is such a crowd pleaser. I love finger foods during this time of the year. And just a few swaps can really make this snack even better.

And be sure stock up on your favorite dipping sauce like:

Storage and Reheating Tips

If you’re wondering how to store these savory sausage balls, it really is simple. All you need to do is place them in an airtight container and refrigerate. They will stay fresh for 2-4 days.

I do not recommend storing at room temperature due to the meat in the recipe.

If you want to freeze this recipe, be sure to cool completely and then place the sausage cheese balls in a freezer bag in the freezer. This makes them a great option to make ahead!

They will stay fresh for at least a month and even up to 3-4 months when stored properly.

To reheat, place them in the oven or microwave until heated through. Or thaw them and place an air fryer heated to 375°F for about 4 minutes and turn. Then heat for another 2-3 minutes.

  1. I make sausage balls every Thanksgiving and Christmas (also anytime the family wants them). I use this same recipe, but I roll mine into balls and cook in a mini muffin pan. I have one that holds 48 and one that holds 24.
